Tamarind Chicken (Ayam Sioh)


Tamarind Chicken (Ayam Sioh)

This is an easier & faster version of tamarind chicken. Can only prepare this on weekdays after work.

  Tamarind Chicken (Ayam Sioh)
 Ingredients :
 1/2 kg chicken
 Cooking oil

 Marinade :
 1/2 tsp salt
 1/2 tsp chicken powder
 3 tbsp dark soy sauce
 1 tsp 5 spice powder
 1 tbsp sugar
 1 tbsp cooking wine
 3 shallots & 3 garlic - peeled & pound

 Tamarind pulp - 3 tbsp mixed with 400 ml water. Remove seeds

Method :
1. Marinade chicken pieces overnight.
2. Heat oil, fry marinated chicken at high heat for 5 min.
3. Add tamarind water. Cover. After 5 min, let it simmer for 15 to 20 mins.
4. Thicken sauce with cornstarch. Serve.
